Saint Vincent de Paul Parish: Forty Years and Counting!

On May 19th, 2009, the parish of St. Vincent de Paul celebrated the fortieth anniversary of its founding by the Most Reverend C.B.
McLaughlin, the first Bishop of the Diocese of St. Petersburg. Father Joseph Beaumont was appointed the Founding Pastor. Father Edward Farrell was the Assistant Pastor.
The church was dedicated September 4th, 1972. What is now known as The Eymard Family Life Center was dedicated in honor of Father Farrell on March 19th, 1976.
The rectory was dedicated in 1978, completing the building project. Monsignor John Neff was appointed Pastor on July 6th, 1982, followed by Monsignor Colman Cooke in May 1990. Father Paul Goudreau was the last Diocesan Pastor here and under Father Paul the Church got its first remodeling, completed in 2002.
In June, 2003, the Blessed Sacrament Community arrived. They are the Province of St. Ann and their Provincial House is in Cleveland, Ohio. The Blessed Sacrament Fathers have enriched the parish with their focus on the Eucharist as envisioned by their Founder, St. Peter Julian Eymard. Father Robert Chabot, SSS was the first Blessed Sacrament Pastor. Father Mario Marzocchi, SSS served as Parochial Vicar. Father Ed Stapleton, SSS and Father Julian Russo, SSS were part of the original Community. Father Julian has returned to the Provincial House. Father Robert was transferred and Father Mario replaced him assisted by Father Juancho (Choy) Ramos, SSS. In June of 2009, Father Mario and Father Choy were transferred. Father Michael Arkins, SSS is now the Pastor and Father Thomas Fitzgerald, SSS is the Superior. Brother Peter Mahady, SSS also resides here as part of the Community .Mr. Mark Manko is the Pastoral Associate Administrator. The parish has an active Faith Formation Program and an RCIA program as well as various scripture study opportunities.
Our Lady's Guild and the Knights of Columbus are active and add to the spiritual life of the parish as well as aiding it financially by their fund raising activities. The St. Vincent de Paul Society provides help for the needy of our immediate area. The parish is also blessed with many volunteers who minister to the needs of the community.
